New Year's Resolutions
1. Don't give up (the fight for a better America)
2. Do something (don't just complain)
3. Work with others (run for precinct committeeperson, join an affordable housing group)
4. Learn from your enemy (conservatives didn't take power by being silent, subtle, or by trying not to offend anyone)
5. Share your vision for a better America with friends, neighbors and co-workers (see #4)
6. Write letters to the editor; call, email, and write elected representatives (see #2) Use the "Contact Congress" box at left provided by The Nation magazine. It's amazingly simple.
7. Appeal to people's hopes and dreams more than their fears
8. Remember that changing attitudes and opinions is a slow process; results may not be immediate and/or dramatic (see #1)
9. Smile, laugh, and enjoy life—it may not be perfect, but it's all we have
