The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

What It Means To You

The government cannot come into your personal property to search and seize items without probable reason. Your items cannot be taken for no reason without proof of a search warrant. However, there are some exceptions to this amendment. An example of this is the security checkpoint at the airport, where they search your luggage for unauthorized materials. There is also the case of consenting (agreeing), to a search.
