First Amendment

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for redress or grievances.

Freedom to Practice Any Religion

Freedom to Petition the Government

Freedom to Assemble in Peace

• This means, the government can not say which religion to practice.
• They also can't tell you not to practice a certain religion.
• The first amendment also states that we have a right to say what we want to say even in the press.
• We can gather together where ever we want.
• We have the right to petition the Government.
