And in other news...

1 in 4 middle aged women in the US on anti-depressants.

Heard it on the telly last night, and the Center for Disease Control confirms it.

I've heard it said that people are on antidepressant meds because of chemical imbalances in their brains — that in fact the reason they should be on meds is because of this imbalance. It's nothing to do with the people they associate with, or the government, or the job they have, or the pet food that's making them sick as well as their pets if they don't wash their hands after touching it. Nope. It's a chemical imbalance in their brains. And though it's never said, what else are we to understand except that it's probably genetic?

I'm told we shouldn't speak too much about the things that depress or anger us. Because who likes a whiny victim? I have no problem with 'postive affirmations', as they are called in the Women in Transition program. We should always remember to think of and say our positive affirmations. What makes me want to stand on a street corner screaming is when I'm told to shut up.

Shhhhh.

Well, I guess what this means is that a quarter of middle aged women in the US have a chemical imbalance in their brain. Me, I can't help wondering why that is. Why does a quarter of the adult female population suddenly have something wrong with their brains??

Doesn't seem like too many people are angry about it or worried about it besides me. Depressed about it, I guess. Ha. Not to worry, there's a pill for that.
