As a child, I had a very narrow understanding of what exactly life was. At the age of seven, I was horrified after watching a program about “supernovas” unsupervised. Around the same time, I was excited to watch one my favorite animated series come to the big screen.
However, disappointment quickly to hold over me when I witness death within the first five minutes of the movie. At the age of twelve, I was burned out of my home, life it seemed, had other plans for my teenage years. Was this the meaning of life, disappointment?
My name contains snippets of the future in it’s meaning. My first name was taken from the character in the hit show “the six million dollar man.” After an accident rendered the character useless he was then rebuilt by the government. The concept of half man/half machine has always intrigued me to this day. This notion was backed by my interest in anime shows and movies of the late 70’s to now. My middle name, aresman, I was told was taken from a boy who was recognized as a genius in the middle east. My last name was taken from my grandfather, instead of the traditional procedure. However, my father was not absent from my life, just commitment of his role as one.
During the course of my life there was always one constant, music. Since my youth, I have always had a keen interest in music, in particular Rap music. I sent a lot of my youth analyzing the elements of the genre and plotting a way to insert myself into it. At the age of 18, I discovered there was different forms of music out there that had been based on and/or influenced by Rap Music. This had been a revelation to me, my mom had prepped me for the experience through her countless hours of listening to Zeppelin, Al Green and TackHead. My mind was open and I wanted to go out into the world and experience everything it had to offer, goodbye Cleveland!
Leaving Cleveland was one of the best decisions I ever was forced to make. My mom gave me an ultimatum, get a job or go to school. I choose the latter, I travelled to pittsburgh to find a new beginning and experience. From there I travel to London, Florida, Washington D.C. and Kansas City. I tasted the culture and surrounds of each place. The only thing that was truly missing in my life was career.
The final piece of this puzzle was to be discovered in the place where it all began. I continued my education at Cleveland State University where I was given a position as Layout Editor for a student newspaper. From that point on my passion has been for design and learning the fundamental of the process of creating. Three years and almost hundred editions later I feel certain this is my calling.
I have designed a Bi-Weekly Newspaper using Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Bridge and Photoshop CS5. I have also designed a Bi-Annual literary using Adobe Indesign, Illustrator, Bridge and Photoshop CS5. I want more experience so that I can build a career from the work.
