Geocaching
About
Equipment:
- Handheld GPS device
- Reward (if warranted)
- Appropriate Outdoor Gear (depends on area in which suspected cache may be hidden)
- Map. If you really want to do it that way.
Description:
Geocaching is the high tech, modern day equivalent of a scavenger hunt. People all throughout the world have placed hidden treasures, caches, (pronounced like cash), in mountains, forests, cities, and even underwater. They register their cache online with the satellite coordinates where it resides. Then any potential cache hunter can take that infomation and attempt to find the cache.
- Start first with getting a membership, (free), at Geocaching.com
- Rules
- Take something from the cache after finding it if you wish,(it is not required that you take anything).
- If you take anything out of the cache you must leave something behind in the cache.
- Write about it in the cache's logbook.
- The game itself is free, unfortunately the GPS is not. The map would be cheaper.
