Image Experiments

I try to test the 3 snowman images provides in different formats (Jpeg, Gif, Png) and compression, The result are displayed in the table below and read from left to right starting with the first to third row, as follow:

Row 1, Snowman in the Forest, pictures 1 to 4

Jpeg quality 5: 12 K, download time 3 sec.
Gif 128 colors: 75.8 K, download time 15 sec.
Jpeg quality 10: 16 K, download time 3 sec.
Png-8 128 colors: 55.29 K, download time 11 sec.

Best: Jpeg quality 10 (picture 3) better definition than quality5 (picture 1), keeping all the colors still downloading in 3 sec.

Row 2, Snowman 2, graphics 5 to 8

Jpeg quality 5: 4.75 K, download time 2 sec.
Gif 128 colors: 19.86 K, download time 4 sec.
Jpeg quality 10: 5.72 K, download time 2 sec.
Png-8 128 colors: 55.29 K, download time 11 sec.

Best: Jpeg quality 10 (picture 7), shorter download keeping all the colors, some artifacts are observed in the red of the scarf at quality 5

Row 3, Snowman 3, graphics 9 to 12

Original snowman 3: 289 K
Gif 128 colors: 19.86 K, download time 4 sec.
Jpeg quality 5: 7.98 K, download time 2 sec.
Png-8, 8 colors: 4.6 K, download time 2 sec.

Best: Jpeg quality 10 (picture 11), the Png (pictures 1, 4) with the same downloading time (pic. 11) lose the nose color
