C'est Fantastique! References for French House Music
THE FUNK BACK TO THE PUNK
French House is House music characterized by the use of filtered (low-pass, phaser, cut-off, etc.) Funk and Disco samples.
Bass lines are often funky and heavy, and vocals often soulful and vocoded. The genre rose to prominence with the album Homework by Daft Punk and the single Music Sounds Better With You by Stardust.
It was also emblematic of the French Touch scene, which became the AKA of the genre.
French Touch was the wave of French Electronic producers, who, while quite varied in genres
(the scene includes in addition to Daft Punk: AIR, Bob Sinclar, Dimitri From Paris, St-Germain, etc.), earned worldwide critical acclaim in the second half of the 90s.
