Lake Bled is probably the most well-known image of Slovenia, so we had to fit it into our trip! So after attending church, we stop in for brunch with some of the Somraks we'd met at the picnic. We share stories about our wedding, and showed them some pictures online. We bid a fond farewell and begin our trip to Bled!
We arrive at the lake, and walked all the way around, which took a little over an hour. The water was so clear, so blue, we'd never seen anything like it! There is a church on an island in the middle of the lake, though we did not get the chance to visit the church (you can only reach it via rowboat, since no motorboats are allowed on Bled), just looking at it from shore was impressive.
After lunch, we are told we cannot visit Lake Bled without trying their world-famous dessert, the best in the world!* Kremsnita, which is like a vanilla cream cake, is rumored to be the most famous dessert in Slovenia. We visited a restaruant called Panorama, which is rumored to make kremsnita better than any other bakery in the world*. It was delicious! Light and creamy, but surprisingly filling.
Miha then took us to the Soteska Vintgar, which was like a deep river gorge just outside of Bled. A wooden boardwalk had been constructed in the late 1800s, and provides access to 1.6 kilometers of breathtaking scenery. Aside from the roaring rapids, it was a quiet, peaceful wind-down for our final day in Slovenia.
