Be in the Know
Amendment V
No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury, except in cases arising in the land or naval forces, or in the militia, when in actual service in time of war or public danger; nor shall any person be subject for the same offense to be twice put in jeopardy of life or limb; nor shall be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor shall private property be taken for public use, without just compensation.
Due Process
The rights of all Americans are secured through the establishment of fair processis and with a consciousness that all are equal in the eyes of the law. Yet on many campuses, the unfortunate accused don't recieve fair procedures. Often the accused are charged with no specific offense, no right to face their accusers, and sentenced without regard to fairness or consistency. Thanks to Fire some students have the opportunities to fight for fundamental fairness on our nation's campuses. Justice means more than the enforcement of the will of the powerful, and suppression of the view of the powerless.
Government big enough to supply everything you need is big enough to take everything you have ... The course of history shows that as a government grows, liberty decreases. - Thomas Jefferson
