The orchid is healthy if:
- The orchid's leaves are stiff
- The orchid's leaves do not have bumps or ridges when you touch them
- The orchid's roots are a whitish color and feel stiff
- The orchid has numerous buds or blooms
- Orchid care. Caring for orchids is similar to other plants, they need light, water, fertilizer and occasional re-potting. It will also help if you sing or talk with your orchid plants.
10 rules for Basic Orchid Care
- When in doubt, go drought
- Whatever you do, do it before noon
- Good air movement and light are just as important as water and fertilizer
- Misting can result in more problems than benefits
- Water once a week, mark it in your calendar, more in summer, less in winter
- Fertilze weakly, weekly
- Use temperate tap water / not from rock salt water softener / flush monthly
- If leaf is warm to the touch, it is too much light
- Sun changes seasonally, arrange you plants accordingly
- Become an inspector / bi-weekly observation is key
