Assassination of President Lincoln
The assassination of President Lincoln took place on April 14, 1865. Teh American Civil War was coming to an end around the time the President was shot. John Wilkes Booth was the one who planned and carried out assassination. He was part of a larger conspiracy intended to rally the remaining Confederate troops to continue fighting. Lincoln was shot while he was watching the play Our American Cousin at Ford's Theater in Washington D.C. with his wife.
