I read the news today, oh boy.
As sad and unnecessary as this death seems, with temperatures the way they've been (yesterday's high was 10 degrees F, the low -2) I'm surprised there haven't been more.
We're giving Jim next door, who works with homeless people, some of our less-used clothing. That's a very minimal effort to make, but better than nothing.
A few days ago this was open water
When the temperature dropped last weekend, it took only about a day for the previously open lake to ice over. The water temperature must have been right around 32 degrees, because it happened literally overnight.
An icon of high-tech gadgetry tricked out in a "natural" look. Somehow it just seems wrong to me. According to public radio's Marketplace there are people making money custom-building wood cases for computers and other electronic gear.
Personal preference, obviously, but seems weird to me.
