New shoes

Tuesday was a rough day running. One toe on my left foot was painfully banging against my shoe. That was the last straw: time to buy new running shoes.

Experts recommend you replace your shoes every six months or so, depending on how much you run. Mine were three years old.

Buying new shoes became one of those rare win-win-win situations. I went to a neighborhood sporting goods store—Geigers in Lakewood—instead of driving to a big box in the suburbs. I saved $30 by picking a pair of shoes off the "Sale" table. And amazingly, the New Balance shoes I bought are made in the U.S.A. (Mouse over the photo to see for yourself)

What's not to like about this? Oh, and the shoes feel good. No more sore toes.
