It's a start
For some reason I'm way behind on getting the garden planted this year. Today I worked for what felt like a long time but I didn't get all that much done.
Here I put in the first seedlings in the main garden area: a tomato and three eggplants in what was last year's most productive section. Not the best in terms of crop rotation, but maybe I'll get at least one more good year before switching varieties here.
Pasta sauce
I also planted several "themed" containers, like this one holding oregano, basil and Italian tomatoes.
I'm really looking forward to the day this summer when I can walk out to this container, pick a handful of tomatoes and herbs and make a really fresh pasta sauce for dinner.
A nearby container has an heirloom tomato plant surrounded by colorful Swiss chard, another tasty dinner.
