Lake Erie windfarm
It's a great idea. The preliminary studies seem to be promising. If this project becomes a reality the picture at the top of this page might have a row of wind turbines at the horizon.
Not only is energy generated from non-polluting wind power a good thing, but the construction of the turbines themselves could spur a mini-boom in local and regional industries who supply parts.
There are some environmental issues to be investigated, but the biggest downside I've heard is danger to migrating birds. Given the potential benefits this is an acceptable trade-off in my book.
