Plans
It's been more than thirty years since we threw the first of our annual New Year's Day parties. Over the years we've tried food themes of one sort or another and a whole raft of dishes that sounded good.
Recently, though, we've gotten lazy and have zeroed in on a few things that are easy to make in quantity and always popular with our guests.
Our basic menu now includes pulled pork with barbeque sauce, cheesy potatoes (the only thing we ever make with Velveeta), deviled eggs and lots of semi-homemade pizza. And bagels with cream cheese. Oh, and spinach dip in a pumpernickel bread bowl. And all the leftover Christmas cookies and candy.
On the drink front we have the bottomless punch bowl that over 10-12 hours consumes 4 two-liters of ginger ale, 2 gallons of OJ, 4 bottles of champagne and 2 cartons of pineapple juice.
Add 40-60 people and you've got yourself a party!
