Whirlpool woes...again
Eight years ago I bought a Whirlpool gas water heater with a nine-year warranty. After four annoying years of problems I fixed it myself by installing a new thermocouple.
A few months later I got a whole new manifold door assembly, courtesy of a class-action lawsuit against Whirlpool. I didn't want to invest the time to install it, so put the box on a shelf.
Now, four years further down the road we found ourselves without hot water despite repeated re-lighting of the heater.
With a sigh I pulled the dusty box off the shelf and spent a couple of hours installing the new parts. As of today we have hot water again. Who knows how long it will last.
Thanks again, Whirlpool, for making such a crappy product. And thanks again, Lowe's for offering me no alternative brands to choose from. I won't be buying a replacement water heater from either of you.
