Berlin Wall remembered
I'm convinced that we humans with our fickle memories need constant reminders of important events lest we forget their lessons.
For me that includes September 11th as well as May 4th (Kent State killings) and August 6th (Hiroshima).
In Germany, Der Spiegel Online recently produced an interactive map to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the building of the Berlin Wall.
Click on the red markers on the map to see before and after photos of various sections of the Wall. There's also a slideshow that traces the history of the Wall in 33 photos. In the one above, the East German soldiers look tired and confused as a section of the Wall comes down.
