Saturday shopping
As usual I boycotted the "Black Friday" shopping fiasco. Don't want to reinforce the notion that the Thanksgiving holiday is mostly a reason to buy more stuff cheap.
Today, though, I had to make a quick trip to the West Side Market for the usual: bread, cheese, veggies and lunch meat.
Since we didn't cook turkey at home this year there were no leftovers—a serious problem I never thought of before. Had to get our turkey fix here at Whicker's.
Reward
I usually mark the end of a successful shopping trip by getting a decaf cappuccino at City Roast Coffee & Tea. Always good, and at $2.50 still a good deal.
For design geeks
Just a half-block south of the Market on West 25th Street is Room Service, a funky shop with an eclectic collection of gifts.
Any graphic designer on your list will appreciate a coffee cup in his/her favorite Pantone color. No one else will recognize the familiar color numbering system used throughout the design industry.
But they still might like a pretty cup.
