Good eating
Having a great meal and doing good is a combination that's hard to resist.
When the email came yesterday from Local Food Cleveland, it wasn't hard to convince me to go to a neighborhood restaurant that serves locally-sourced food.
We chose the Flying Fig, a small, pleasant place near the West Side Market that serves great food in a classy but not stuffy atmosphere. We went whole hog, so to speak: wine, appetizer (veggie tart at left, above), roast pork for me (right, above), savory veggie crepe for Joanne, and dessert. Yum.
The bill was higher than our typical evening out, but we really did get what we paid for. Start to finish everything was beautifully prepared and served. And delicious. And the greens were grown nearby and the pork raised humanely at New Creation Farm in Chardon, Ohio. Truly a case of putting your money where your mouth is, and enjoying it.
