Improvements
I had a few pepper and tomato seedlings to plant, but the main goal for today was to fix the bottom step into the "back 40".
As the remains of the apartment house that used to be on our back lot disintegrate, the ground sinks in certain areas.
The picture shows the results of my work. Unfortunately I didn't get a "before" shot. You'll have to take my word for it: the bottom stone had become so slanted that I slipped and nearly fell on it several times.
After about an hour of lifting and fillling—then a trip to the garden store for a bag of sand—then more lifting and filling, the bottom step is now level.
