Misdirection

Here you are at the end of a hospital corridor, heading for the Senior Behavioral Health department. Which way do you turn?

If you said "right", you'd be joining me in a fruitless search for our goal, which actually requires a left turn at the sign.

We, or at least I, made the mistake because someone isn't paying attention to the design principle of Proximity. The quick definition: when we see things placed close to each other we assume they belong together.

The sign-maker didn't notice the right-pointing arrow just below "Senior Behavioral Health." I did, and turned right. Wrong.

Mouse over the image to see a simple, quick fix.
