New isn't always better

In most respects, this should be great: I've just replaced my 5-year-old G4 Mactintosh with a brand-new (well, factory-refurbished) iMac with an Intel Core 2 Duo 2.16 mHz processor, built-in wireless, and lots of other significant improvements. But, as anyone who's made the transition to a new computer will understand, this can be a very frustrating process.

The Mac OS has a built-in "Migration Assistant" that is supposed to make this painless. Click a few buttons and magically it will transfer your files from the old to the new computer. Well, the magic didn't work so well, and I've spent the better part of two days trying to piece together all the files I need onthe new computer.

In a word, this sucks.
