Market party
In a time when many people believe that government always screws things up, we were happy to go to a party celebrating the 100th anniversary of Cleveland's city-owned West Side Market.
The Market is truly one of the city's gems, a place where regulars like me shop for vegetables, meat and cheese, and tourist wander wide-eyed among the stands and stalls.
Nearly all of the food vendors are local: there's a refreshing lack of corporate logos. Our tax dollars help keep it this way.
There are plans for renovations and additions to keep the Market going for another hundred years, and an even bigger party in the fall.
Happy 100th Birthday!
And Drew Carey: your suggestion that the city sell the Market? Dumb idea.
