Beautiful bridge
Last November I went to a conference at Carnegie Mellon University and thoroughly enjoyed walking around the campus (the conference too).
I was most impressed by the combination of art and technology demonstrated by the Pausch Memorial Bridge with its animated lightshow.
The elevated walkway literally connects a fine arts building with its computer science counterparts. Embedded in its sidewalls are 7,000 programmable LED lights, creating a constantly-changing view whether you're on the bridge or just looking at it.
Seems a very fitting memorial to the CMU professor of Computer Science, Human Computer Interaction and Design who wrote The Last Lecture before dying of cancer in 2008.
