Move out
Our two lazy weeks on Kelleys Island came to an end at 11 a.m., our official move-out time. We got everything packed up and into the car just a few minutes past the deadline, then went down to the beach for our traditional last look at Lake Erie from the rocky shore.
As usual, we finished off the gin and tonic: I poured what was left in one bottle into the other, and we had our going-away cocktail.
We drove back home the slow way, first stopping at the KI Winery for a bottle of wine that we'll save for some cold winter night when we want to remember and look forward to summer on the island.
Our non-freeway route home took us through Sandusky where I had yet another perch sandwich, this time at the hole-in-the-wall Lunch Box restaurant. Now that I've become a connoisseur of perch sandwiches I have to say that the Casino's is better.
