Brrr...overnight freeze
Being close to Lake Erie we've dodged a bullet so far in terms of cold nights. The lake's warm water gives us a micro-climate different from most of the city.
So, while other parts of the area had temperatures below freezing weeks ago, based on what I've seen of my garden plants we haven't.
Or we hadn't. This morning I found an inch-thick chunk of ice in one corner of the compost barrel lid. And that's despite an official low temperature of 37 degrees.
Seems that somehow my backyard was colder than the weather stations at Burke Lakefront Airport (slightly northeast of us) and Cleveland Hopkins Airport (ten miles southwest).
