Rain barrel v.2
Last week ended with the diverter installed and the rain barrel in place. I thought I was done.
But on Sunday a friend looked at it and said "Are you sure that will hold the weight of a full barrel of water, 400 pounds"? "Umm, sure," I replied.
Of course then I wasn't, so I googled plans for rain barrel stands. They looked similar to mine but were made of 4x4s rather than 2x4s. Today I set out to fix it.
I added a 4x4 post to the middle of each side, then nailed a sheet of 1/2" plywood across the top to hold things together and distribute the weight more evenly.
While I was at it I stained the framework, then planted a couple of Russian sage plants to beautify the area. Looks pretty good, if I do say so myself. Move your mouse over the photo to see for yourself.
