Drums and more drums
Can't have too much drumming, in my book. In Cleveland the Shaw High School band fits somewhere between the two styles below. YouTube, as usual, lets us look back to a simpler time.
1982
Fancy drumming techniques may have started at this high school talent show in Durham, NC with a group called "Percussionistic" (Pernell Briggs, Gerald Tharrington, Timothy Bryant, and Daryl Spellman).
2006
Hip-hop drummers carry on the tradition with a new beat, fancy footwork and a musical soundtrack. But you'll still see the 1982 roots in their drumming.
