The ocean on the web...
theBlu is an ambitious web-based project to create an undersea world populated with creatures created by animators from every part of the globe.
The founders describe it as "a social online experience" with a "global mission".
This is what they have to say:
The Blu is not a game. It's not an animated movie. And it's not a social media site. Yet it fuses elements from all three media types into a new form of entertainment. Inspired by artistic expression and the global collaborative potential of the web, The Blu is a first example of what we refer to as "globally shared media and storytelling". The Blu is a state-of-mind where you are inspired, relax and connect with the world.
Or is it?
Watch the video and see what you think. The folks behind the project seem to honestly view it as a grand experiment in crowd-sourced creativity. On the other hand to me it seems a lot like many of the 3 million hits that come up when you google "aquarium screensaver."
