Good food

Thanksgiving feast on the hoof, so to speak, from Fresh ForkPumpkins destined for pieland, a turkey heading for the oven, and plenty of greens, carrots, scallions, onions and apples to accompany them.

I ordered the Thanksgiving package from Fresh Fork Market, a local CSA, for $85. I could have bought similar food at the grocery store for less money, but why?

One lesson I've digested (sorry) from Michael Pollan is to buy and eat less, but better, food.

The food on my table here was grown on small farms within 75 miles of Cleveland, without chemicals. Buying it supports small-scale agriculture rather than huge commercial operations far away. With food, small and local is better in nearly every way except price.
