Portfolio Show ideas
A major piece of the Portfolio Preparation class that I teach at Cuyahoga Community College is a student portfolio show at the end of the semester.
We used to simply take over a classroom or the lounge area in our building at the college, but for the past couple of years we've held the show at a downtown art gallery.
Moving things offsite means a lot more work planning, setting up and taking down the show, but it puts us closer to potential employers, who tend to be located in or near downtown. It also makes for a more exciting event for everyone.
In today's class each student gave a 30-second "pitch" for his/her favorite idea as the overall theme for the show. We voted via secret ballot afterwards (you see a collage of several ballots above).
The top vote-getters:
- Draft Day (think football or baseball, not military)
- Digital Resistance
- Grass is Greener
- Tasting Talent
You're welcome to vote for your favorite, too. Just click on "Add your comment" below.
