The Grass is Greener Here
The sketches that students did for our Portfolio Show theme were heavy on grass and picket fences, but scattered amidst the boring grassy fields were a couple of interesting possibilities.
One featured pictures of cows, offering a different point of view (the cow's) on those blades of grass.
Another showed a jealous student, presumably from another school, looking at the "greener" scene on the Tri-C student's monitor.
A couple of other ideas were verbal extensions of the theme, like The grass is greener here, brought to you by our fertile mInds.
So I gave the 4-5 students who'd come up with the best ideas ten minutes to brainstorm new improved versions. The result was a cow sitting next to a man with grass sprouting on his head, looking at monitors. Sort of a collage of three of the earlier ideas. Probably too much to try to cram into a single concept, but OK for ten minutes' thought. After a short discussion with the entire class we adjourned for the night.
Next week we'll see where the ideas have evolved to.
