Vote Obama/Biden on Nov. 4th, 2008
A historical moment?
Four years ago we went to downtown Cleveland to cheer John Kerry the night before his heart-breaking loss to George Bush. The mood was sober but hopeful. Bruce Springsteen started things off with a couple of rousing tunes.
This year, two days before the election we again went to downtown Cleveland to hear Barack Obama. Bruce Springsteen again started things off with a few tunes, including a sing-along of Woody Guthrie's This Land is Your Land. We stood with a lot of other people—the estimate was 80,000—for more than 4 hours, but the mood this time was cautiously hopeful. In two days we'll look back at this and smile. Or not.
