Toasted coconut
In case you're worried that I've become a food snob, with all my organic produce and free-range turkey, here's evidence that you have nothing to worry about.
I had a semi-stressful eye exam today (everything's basically OK, thankfully) and needed to reward myself afterwards. I pulled into a nearby Dunkin Donuts for a toasted coconut donut and coffee.
I toyed briefly with the idea of trying to find something more healthy on the menu but 1) that's pretty much a hopeless search and 2) doggone it, I deserved a donut!
So sorry Michael (Pollan) and Barbara (KIngsolver), some days are donut days. Other days are Waffle House days. We'll get back to free-range turkey another day.
Sad to say, though, the donut wasn't nearly as delicious as I expected.
